FAQQuestions people ask before they book me.

If yours isn’t here, put it in the form at the bottom and I’ll answer it when I call.

What’s a mentalist?

Somebody who appears to read minds. I’ll know what you’re thinking, or what you’re about to choose, when there’s no way I could. It’s a branch of magic, it’s aimed at adults, and it runs on psychology, observation and a lot of practice. Is it real? I wrote about that.

How’s that different from a magician?

With magic, the impossible thing happens to a card or a coin. With mentalism it happens to you. I do both and lead with mentalism. There’s a longer comparison here.

What’s strolling, or walkaround?

I move through your event and perform for small groups, a few minutes each. I don’t need a stage, and nobody has to stop what they’re doing. This page walks through how a set runs.

How long should we book you for?

An hour per forty or fifty guests is a good rule. Most people book two hours.

Is it okay for kids?

It’s written for adults. It’s clean, so kids at a family party are welcome to watch, but I don’t do children’s parties.

Will anyone be embarrassed?

No. I don’t pull people on stage, I don’t mock anyone, and nobody has to reveal anything private. People join in if they want to.

What do you need from us?

An address, a start time and someone to ask for when I arrive.

Do you do a stage show?

I do a short parlor show for roughly fifteen to eighty people, as an add-on to strolling. I don’t do a full-length stage show.

What does it cost?

Sets start at $700. I’ll give you an exact price on the phone. More on pricing.

Where do you work?

Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego and Palm Springs, and other parts of California if you ask.

How far ahead should we book?

A month or two is typical. December weekends and spring wedding Saturdays go first. It’s always worth asking about short notice, because sometimes I’m free.

How do we book?

Fill in the form and I’ll call you. If we’re a fit, a one-page agreement and a deposit hold the date.

Tell me about your party and I’ll call you.

I’d rather talk for ten minutes than trade six emails. I’ll ask about the crowd and the timing, tell you what I’d do, and give you a price before we hang up. You don’t have to decide on the call.

Sets start at $700.
