Holiday party entertainment in Los AngelesThe holiday party your team actually stays for.

You know how the first hour of an office holiday party goes. Everyone arrives, finds their own team and forms a circle. Put me on the floor for that hour and the circles break, the partners have someone to talk to, and by the time the DJ starts your CEO is asking where you found the mind reader. Thirty people or three hundred, it works the same.

Why this works in December

The holiday party is the one night of the year when the whole company is in a room together, and their partners are there too. Some people want to dance. A smaller number want karaoke. Pretty much everyone likes having their mind read, including the people who swear they won’t.

I move through the party in small groups for one to three hours. Accounting ends up laughing with engineering. Somebody’s husband becomes the guy who had his mind read by the bar, and on Monday people are still asking him about it.

If it’s a big party

Plan on an hour for every forty or fifty guests if you want most people to see something up close. For 150 and up, book all three hours, and have me start right when doors open so I can get to the early arrivals before the room fills.

If it’s a team dinner

For fifteen to forty people in a private room, I’d do strolling during drinks and then the short parlor show after the main course.

From company events

“We had him at our sales offsite. He did something with my coworker’s mind that I still can’t explain and she still won’t stop talking about. He showed up early and didn’t need a single thing from us, which as the person organizing I appreciated more than the magic, honestly.”

Marcus T., offsite dinner, Santa Monica

“One table was deep in a work conversation and he left them alone and came back later. Small thing. It’s the difference between a pro and somebody doing a bit at people.”

Questions about holiday parties

When should we book for December?

As soon as you’ve got a date. Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights in the first three weeks of December are the first dates to go, for me and for everybody else. Weeknights are easier, and so are January parties, which more companies are doing now anyway.

Partners and plus-ones are invited. Does that change anything?

It makes me a better fit. Partners are the people most likely to feel stranded at an office party, and a small-group performance gives them an easy way in.

Can you work alongside a DJ or a band?

Yes. I take the first part of the evening, when people are arriving, eating and talking. When the music comes up and the dancing starts, I’m done.

Is it okay for a mixed workplace crowd?

Yes. It’s clean and non-denominational. Nobody gets singled out, and people only join in if they want to.

Tell me the date and I’ll call you.

December nights go first, so it’s worth getting in touch even if you’re still waiting on a headcount. I’ll call, we’ll talk for ten minutes, and you’ll have a price before we hang up.

Sets start at $700.
